Black Clover: First Impressions
Black Clover is an anime centred around a 15 year old boy who was born without any magic in a world of magic. Everyone in this world has some magic and it's like a life essential so if you don't have any, then that means something or someone messed up somewhere. The main character's name is Asta and without having any form of magic, he hopes to become the wizard king- which is the second most highest rank in the country and almost every magic user's dream- but the whole twist to Asta is, even though he has no magical powers, he does have the ability to nullify magic. This basically means that magic doesn't affect him (at least from what i know so far. please don't spoil).
When I first heard about this show, my first exact thought was "finally something different" because this was the first time I had seen or heard of a non over-powered MC so I kind of wanted to see how the story would unfold. If I'm being honest, my first thought of Asta was he is straight pathetic. I'm sorry but that's my truth and I know he's going to become some boss ass god. But for now, I do feel bad for the guy. I feel his energy, his zeal and passion for his goal and I do like the fact that he makes up for his lack of magic with an insane physical strength which actually comes in handy. The downside to his energy and passion is that he shouts a lot. No seriously, it's so unbearable. I hope in the future he grows up and become more like Yuno.
Speaking of Yuno, that boy is cocky af. Yeah, we have come across more characters that surpass Yuno but for some reason I feel like his cockyness (that's not a real word i know) his different. This boy went from crying all the time to "You lot are beneath me" and you love to see it. I really hate to compare but his whole demeaner makes you feel like you are watching Sasuke with magical powers and I'm sure if you've watched this show you've definitely felt that. But Yuno actually acknowledges Asta both as a friend and a rival unlike Sasuke who is blind and doesn't know who or what the hell a friend is.
